[3]June 9, 2009After gaining altitude we are confronted with the scenery. To the north the mountains are dressed in not only the snow of the last few days but are full of last winters snowfall. It is so green out and the wildflowers are just beginning to come into their own dressing the landscape with color. Balsamroot is blooming everywhere. We cross quite a number of elk tracks probably from this morning when they were moving off the meadows of the Bear Creek basin where they would have spent the night grazing.
